The New MLM Team Concept

There has been a very interesting move in the MLM world toward building downlines through team effort. How this works is everybody on the team promotes a rotator link which points to one members' referral page. After the required number of sign ups for that member then the next member begins getting referrals.

One such team is OceanSwell. It promotes Traffic Wave, which is an autoresponder service that also has one of the best residual income compensation plans on the planet for referring others. You are guaranteed at least 5 signups, which puts you in profit each month, and as long as you stay with it you will keep building after that.

So what is required of you? You are expected to send at least 200 visitors per day to the link. This sounds like a lot but really is very easy to do using traffic exchanges.

Pros: It is very difficult to refer people to an autoresponder service on your own. Joining a team makes it much easier o be successful - and your downline will be stickier (they will stay much longer).

Cons: Right now it takes 8-10 weeks to go through the rotator, so it takes some patience before you get your first batch of referrals.

My conclusion: It IS worth the wait.

Protecting Your Privacy While Working From Home

You need to understand thet operating a business from home does not mean that your life is an open book for the world to read. You will have to set specific boundaries between your work life and your private life in order to insure that your family is not interrupted by your work. You will need to establish specific working hours for your home business and at the end of the day go home. If you let your business consume every waking moment of the day, you will quickly burn out as well as causing an interruption to your family’s life.

If you can afford at the start of your business, have a separate phone line installed that is strictly for business. Use an answering machine for after hours calls and unless a client or customer leaves a message that it is an emergency, call them back the next business day. If possible, do not give out your home telephone number as a contact number. You never know if little Johnny or Susie will answer the phone leaving a bad impression on a potential customer.

There are many services that will cross boundaries between your work life and your private life and understanding where they meet will help you keep your sanity when working from home. When you first start the business, it may be easy for your spouse to ask you to get things done around the house while they are at work. You will need to remind them gently that you will be working and no, you don’t have time to finish the dishes, or throw a load of laundry in the washing machine and you definitely don’t have time to paint the bathroom.

Unless the business requires you to meet with clients and there is no way around it, do not entertain business associates at your home. In fact, clients probably should not even have your home address. Using email and the telephone for client contact is in the best interest for privacy, as you don’t want an irate customer banging on your door while you eat supper with the family. A post office box is not overly expensive and can be used for most shipping and helps protect your family’s privacy.

Remember, this is your business and you need to remember that your spouse and children are not employees. You may be working out of a home office, but it is still your family’s home and you need to make sure you have definite boundaries established. Just as you do not want them crossing into your office space while you are working, you need to show the same respect to your family by not allowing work to cross into their private space.

These days, it seems like everyone wants to work
from home and make money on the Internet. But
before you even turn on your computer, the first
question you have to ask yourself is whether
you’re cut out for this kind of work.

The fact is, building a home-based business isn’t
for everyone. Some people like the commute. They
really do enjoy having a boss who tells them what
to do, and they like the routine of working
nine-to-five for an ordinary salary that can
barely pay the mortgage. Personally, I think
they’re nuts.

More reasonably, there are people who are
concerned about the risk of starting up their own
business. They’re not sure it’s worth the
investment of time and money, and they’re scared
of the responsibility that comes with running
their own company. They wonder if there is
another way to escape the rat race.

I’m sure there is. You could win the lottery or
wait for your Aunt Sue to keel over and leave you
her condo. Or maybe you could sit down with a pen
and paper and draw the blueprint for "The Next
Big Thing". Anything can happen... Right?

For me, what happened was creating a successful,
self-running Internet marketing system. It didn’t
happen without effort. It didn’t happen without
at least some initial investment of both time and
money and, of course, it doesn’t happen now
without me making sure that the taxes are filed
and the paperwork is done. But it happened.

I’m my own boss. I work from home according to my
own schedule and I get to pocket all the cash my

Do I Need To Be In A Different Business?

Let's see, Paris Hilton goes to jail for a few days and gets a deal for $1 million dollars for one interview. What's wrong with this picture?

Of course to her that's probably pocket change, even though I don't know what she has ever accomplished in her life.

Is this sour grapes? Maybe a little. But it just doesn't seem right to be rewarded for going to jail.

In the meantime I slave away to make enough to support my family working a full time job, come home and work more trying to get an online business up and running. Hmmm.

Promoting Your Business

There are so many ways to promote your business on the internet. Many are free and many are not so free. Of course they all have options to upgrade which generally give you extra credits each month and other perks. Today's subject is:

Traffic Exchanges are sites that show your ads to other members of the exchange, who are usually other marketers, of course. This means the best things to advertise are business opportunities or advertising methods. For every click you earn a certain number of credits for clicks to your sites. I recommend advertising only a very few sites at a time so your credits aren't diluted. You can drive a lot of traffic to your sites if you spend time surfing every day. And they all offer extra credits if you refer other people.

Traffic Swarm. This is good because not only are your ads clicked on by other members but they also have an ad network similar to Adwords (though not as large) so your ads can get outside the normal audience of marketers.

One of the best exchanges is TrafficG. Even as a free member you can advertise as many sites as you like.

One more is Fast Lane Traffic. With this one, even as a free member. you earn banner impressions as you surf. And I have been getting a lot of clicks on my banners.

Long Time - No Post

Sorry about the long time between posts. I've been extremely busy working my programs and my full-time job and my eBay store Timely Deals of Loveland

Anyway, not much has happening anyway. I still have one person in each program. But I have gotten 4 people to sign up for my PIP newsletter. So I could get some sign ups that way.

I've been working hard to promote these programs and am still hopeful it will pay off soon. I was really excited about the Plug In Profits advertising co-op. The first of the ads were out last Monday but so far I have seen no results. Fingers crossed.

I've been asked why I am not writing only positive things about these programs. While I do believe in them I also will always be honest with you. I'm not going to sugar coat things just so you'll join.
